| News Update - 1/16/2008 8:58:52 PM | Krant Retextured?
The previous incarnation of the Wing Commander 1 Krant that appears in a couple of the banner images here on WCPlanet has been retextured with a paint job that more closely resembles the version actually seen in the game, Wing Commander.
With red strips and Kilrathi markings, this version is looking pretty good. There's a render or two in the artwork session of the Krant before the new paint job and also a render of it after the rework.

The latest work in the Works in Progress forum is the Wing Commander 1 Bengal Class carrier. Starting from the original basic line outline from the "Claw Marks" manual,

| News Update - 12/15/2007 4:17:57 PM | WCPLanet Re-Opens As Artwork Extravaganza!
After a long hiatus of inactivity, WCPlanet, is back with a dedicated focus on Wing Commander Artwork. WC Fans are encouraged to post their own creations via the forums and share their ambitions for future projects. You'll find the site has a fresh new look in many places and previous sections that were flawed now removed. This site is solely dedicated to Wing Commander Artwork and Animations, all other hosted content has been removed.

I'm really excited about this re-launching of WCPlanet. Initially, WCPlanet was launched with poor direction and a lot of people misconstrued it's purpose. The goal was just to create another great place where WC fans could kick back and relax online. That turned out to be far too vague of an objective for a website existing among several already impressive online WC-related presences. After some consideration, a lot of work, WCPlanet finally has a focus, we've got something we're excited about, something we can provide as a drawing point to the WC community. We're proud to be a place where WC fans can post 3d renders, works in progress, cartoons, 2d creations, animations, wallpapers etc to share with the WC community.

Maj. Striker has finished up his new WC themed wallpaper, entitled "Ready For Action". It depicts a group of Kilrathi Krants (one of which featured in the WC Planet banner up above) laying restless in a hanger, awaiting their next battle.

Monkhouse has been at work on a new ship that he has proposed as a Cutter class. It's been great to watch the ship evolve from it's basic shape into its current form. (Check out the greebling in the first picture!) Its always great to see great artwork like this, Monkhouse has several different models in the forums, don't forget to check those out as well!

Monkhouse has been posting some concept pictures of a carrier he has been been playing around with. It's been through some iterations and he's tossed more than a few ideas around. Considering the time frame he has targetted as the date of this model's deployment there's a lot of creative liberty available.

You'll notice the new navigation link on the front page of the site. There are only three pictures there right now but we hope to expand over time as users submit their own artwork. Monkhouse has finished work on his and BradMicks' Demon model mentioned in previous updates, and has provided some great shots of it in action in the WC Planet forums.
...it's far from perfect but I'm happy with it, and need to move on to something else.
